CM Siddaramaiah Inaugurates Ambitious 5th Stage Cauvery Drinking Water Project
Bengaluru:“I laid the foundation for the 5th stage of the Cauvery drinking water project, and today, I am inaugurating it. This is proof that we deliver on our promises,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The CM was speaking after launching the 5th stage of the project, which aims to supply drinking water to 110 villages within the BBMP (Bengaluru city) limits.
He mentioned that the project had been delayed during the tenure of previous governments, including under H.D. Kumaraswamy, due to a lack of funds and interest. “After we returned to power, we completed the project and provided water to 110 villages,” he said.
6th Stage is Already in Progress Siddaramaiah announced that the 6th stage of the project has also been initiated to meet the city’s needs further.
“We do what we say. We don’t lie to come to power. We deliver on promises without deceit,” he emphasized.He further mentioned that the 6th stage of the Cauvery project would add 500 million liters per day (MLD) of drinking water for Bengaluru residents. “We have announced this, and we will deliver,” he said confidently.The inauguration event was chaired by MLA Narendraswamy.
Ministers including District-in-Charge Minister S. Chaluvarayaswamy, Energy Minister K.J. George, S.T. Somashekar and Byrathi Basavaraj were present, along with several other MLAs and MLCs.The project, which cost ₹4,336 crore, was implemented in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).To mark the occasion, the CM and Deputy CM planted a sapling on the project premises.
