Mangaluru: Education is the Key to Equality and Poverty Eradication – Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer

Mangaluru, May 23, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer said that education is the most powerful tool for eradicating poverty and ensuring equality in society. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of four state-of-the-art convention halls developed by Land Links at the Palemar Convention Centre in Maryhill, Mangaluru, on Saturday.

Praising former minister J. Krishna Palemar, the Governor described him as a multi-talented personality who has contributed significantly to industry, education, and social service. He noted that Palemar has extended support to underprivileged students for higher education, provided free education to deserving students, and created employment opportunities for many people.

The Governor expressed hope that the Palemar Convention Centre would emerge as a hub for community inclusion, seminars, economic discussions, and skill development programmes. He also wished that the venue would become a center promoting social harmony and goodwill.

Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna, who attended as chief guest, said that the life of Krishna Palemar is an example of how dedication, discipline, and the blessings of parents can lead to success. He appreciated Palemar for dedicating four convention halls simultaneously for public use and for his commitment to utilizing the revenue for social welfare activities.

Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U. T. Khader said that the Palemar Convention Centre has added grandeur to the cultural beauty of Tulunadu. He remarked that Palemar’s achievements prove that honesty, commitment, and hard work can help anyone attain great success irrespective of their background. He also suggested that a biography on Krishna Palemar’s life should be published to inspire the younger generation.

Presiding over the function, J. Krishna Palemar said that the main objective behind the project was to provide world-class convention facilities at affordable rates while promoting the cultural richness of coastal Karnataka. He added that the Palemar Convention Centre would function under the Vikas Education Trust and support educational initiatives for economically weaker sections.

Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, MLAs Dr. Bharath Shetty and Umanath Kotian, and MLC Ivan D’Souza were among the dignitaries present at the programme.

During the event, several social workers, meritorious students, differently-abled achievers, and charitable institutions were felicitated. Scholarships were also distributed to deserving students.

The newly inaugurated facilities include the Palemar Convention Centre at Maryhill, Palemar Garden at Morgans Gate, Palemar Farms near Surathkal,

and Nethravathi Sabhabhavan at Jeppinamogaru Kadekar. According to Krishna Palemar, the halls will be available for weddings, community events, cultural and religious programmes, job fairs, exhibitions, and women empowerment activities.
